BAR Technologies, a company specialized in wind propulsion and marine engineering, has signed a collaboration agreement with Nervión Naval Offshore to sell, manufacture and deliver the entire production of the British company´s WindWings system. This is BAR´s first manufacturing collaboration outside of China, specifically in Galicia, and will benefit the supply of wind energy to European customers.

The agreement with Nervión, owned by the Amper Group and with factories in Ferrol and As Somozas (Galicia), establishes that the Spanish company will manage the value chain of acquisition and construction of WindWings, as well as their installation in European shipyards. In addition, Nervión will control the maintenance of the wind systems during their operational life cycle, and will provide training on their operation.

"Now that shipping is undergoing transformational change, especially after being included in the EU-ETS, the opportunity to work with BAR Technologies to bring its pioneering WindWings system to the European market is important, and we will leverage our manufacturing expertise for the wind energy industry," said Nervión Naval Offshore CEO Roberto Bouzas.

For his part, BAR Technologies CEO, John Cooper, stressed that the agreement "offers the opportunity to increase global sales of WindWings, as shipowners are increasingly looking to implement wind propulsion to existing and new-build vessels to comply with EU regulations", and emphasized Nervión´s expertise in manufacturing wind systems and the potential to "improve the geographical availability of WindWings".
